Primary Rainwater Filters

Years of experience has proven that primary rainwater filters are one of the most important items in a rainwater harvesting system.  These filters are installed before the rainwater enters the rainwater tank. and they should be able to dynamically filter the rainwater while it rains.  The purpose of these filter are twofold

  1. Prevent access of insects, reptiles and vermin into the rainwater system. It thus technically seals the rainwater system from outside entry.
  2. Prevent large debris and organic material from entering the water storage system. It must be able to filter our large debris before it can enter the tank. 

We recommend the use of WISY primary rainwater filters in all systems.

WISY primary rainwater filters have the following key benefits.

  1. The Primary filter element acts as a first flush unit - For the filtration element to start working it need to become wet for the capillary action to work. Thus at the start of a rain-shower it will bypass the first amount of water (always the rainwater that contains the highest amount of organic material) before it starts to function properly

  2. Screen-size vary between 280 and 340 micron - thus any piece of organic material bigger that that size will be prevented from entering the rainwater tank

  3. It is self cleaning - The way it has been designed make it self cleaning and easy to access to service.

  4. There are various units depending on the size of the roof surface that you are recovering water from.

  5. They can be installed above ground in the down-pipes, below ground in the rainwater header or inside the rainwater tank.

  6. The screen is make of stainless steel with a 10 year warranty.
